Here, we will examine how well several popular word processors and one grammar checking utility for the Mac find and correct common grammar and usage errors. No grammar checker functions adequately overall. Microsoft Word functions most poorly, while Grammarian Pro X, LanguageTool, LanguageTool Editor, WordPerfect, and Grammarly function better. This study compares several popular grammar checkers across different operating systems, examining their ability to find and correct twenty common usage errors, as identified by Connors and Lunsford (1992) and Lunsford and Lunsford (2008).
